Illumio to Highlight ZTS at GITEX 2023 https://securityreviewmag.com/?p=26047 Wed, 11 Oct 2023 11:10:19 +0000 https://securityreviewmag.com/?p=26047 Illumio has announced its participation at GITEX Global 2023. With a specific focus on breach containment, the company will showcase how Zero Trust Segmentation (ZTS) can help organisations stop the spread of breaches and ransomware and improve cyber resilience.

Despite record spending on cybersecurity, the Middle East continues to experience more frequent and devastating breaches. According to IBM’s latest Cost of a Data Breach Report, the annual cost of a data breach for organisations in the Middle East reached SAR 29.9 million in 2023 – the highest in 10 years. The hyperconnectivity that comes with rapid digital transformation in the region makes organisations increasingly vulnerable. Attacks continue to break through perimeter defences and move, often undetected, to access critical assets and infrastructure.

ZTS is a modern security approach that contains and minimizes the impact of breaches and ransomware. Illumio’s ZTS platform stops breaches from spreading across clouds, endpoints, and data centres by continually visualising how workloads and devices are communicating, creating granular policies that only allow wanted and necessary communication, and automatically isolating breaches by restricting lateral movement proactively or during an active attack.

Visitors to the Illumio stand will be able to engage with Zero Trust and micro-segmentation subject matter experts and see first-hand how Illumio can strengthen cyber resilience through demonstrations of several ZTS use cases including:

  1. Ransomware containment
  2. IT / OT convergence
  3. Workload and endpoint segmentation
  4. Cloud Security
  5.  Azure Firewall policy management
Illumio experts will also be delivering presentations on several security topics including:
  6. Transforming cyber-security to maintain supply in the IoT era (18th October, 12.00 – 12.20 pm at X-Lab Security, Hall 24)
  7. Understanding & Combating Ransomware Capabilities (18th October, 1:30 – 1:45 pm at Dark Stage, Hall 23)
  8. Security at Business Speed: Securing Hybrid Multi-Cloud Networks (October 19th, 2:20 pm – 2:40 pm at X-Lab Security, Hall 24)
  9. The answer to AI attacks is not more AI (CyberKnight Booth D560, Hall 25)

Microsegmentation is now recognised globally as a necessary and effective approach to reducing the impact of cyberattacks. According to the recent Gartner Market Guide for Microsegmentation, by 2026, 60% of enterprises working towards a Zero Trust architecture will use more than one deployment form of microsegmentation, which is up from less than 5% in 2023.

Ashraf Daqqa, Regional Sales Director for META at Illumio says: “The Middle East is one of the most ambitious and digitally connected regions in the world. But the rapid adoption of cutting-edge technologies like AI and the IoT, as well as the mass adoption of cloud, is increasing the attack surface for organisations and bringing new security challenges.

“Organisations urgently need to implement a Zero Trust architecture to build resilience to inevitable breaches and reduce risk from cyberattacks, especially as adoption of AI by criminals increases. Just as AI can be used for good, it can also learn malicious behaviour to identify vulnerabilities, so organisations must reduce the learning surface with Zero Trust Segmentation – a key pillar of any Zero Trust strategy. Instead of identifying and blocking bad communications, Zero Trust Segmentation focuses on finding the good and only allowing traffic that is critical.”

CyberKnight Signs Up Illumio https://securityreviewmag.com/?p=22885 Tue, 24 Aug 2021 07:56:01 +0000 https://securityreviewmag.com/?p=22885 Segmentation is a core pillar of a Zero Trust cybersecurity strategy, which assumes that breaches are inevitable and relies on a ‘never trust, always verify’ philosophy. According to ESG, “Modern host-based micro-segmentation tools offer central management, distributed enforcement, tamper-proofing, and strong security that aligns well with the requirements for large distributed hybrid cloud environments.” By implementing segmentation solutions, organizations can ensure that ransomware and other attacks infiltrating IT don’t spread and become cyber disasters.

To help enterprise and government customers stop the lateral movement of cyberattack, CyberKnight has signed a distribution partnership with Illumio, the pioneer and leader of Zero Trust Segmentation. Illumio is recognized as a Leader in Zero Trust platforms by Forrester Research in The Forrester Wave™: Zero Trust eXtended (ZTX) Ecosystem Platform Providers, 2020 report. The company is also recognized by Deloitte Fast 500 and Forbes Cloud 100.

Illumio stops attacks like ransomware and contains them to their initial point of entry, which dramatically reduces risk and keeps data, organizations, and people safe. In any cloud, container, and data center environment, Illumio Core accelerates the time to achieve Zero Trust Segmentation with real-time application visibility and insights and reduces the time to enforcement by automating policy generation.

Additionally, Illumio Edge, Illumio’s endpoint segmentation solution, drastically reduces the risk of ransomware and malware propagating laterally throughout an organization by containing attacks by default. This solution blocks all unnecessary inbound network communications to significantly reduce the risk of malware spreading peer to peer without the fear of false positives.

“The rise of ransomware and catastrophic breaches has confirmed that current cybersecurity approaches are failing, and organizations need to implement a Zero Trust architecture,” said Mark Noctor, Regional Vice President of Sales, EMEA. “Segmentation is part of any successful Zero Trust strategy, and together with CyberKnight we will help more companies access Zero Trust solutions more quickly. We’ve always been a channel-first organization, and we’re pleased to announce this expansion within EMEA today.”

“Today it is essential to isolate any cyber breach that threatens your organization’s information, infrastructure, or networks. Undoubtedly, segmentation is one of the foundational building blocks of an effective Zero Trust framework. We are excited to be part of Illumio’s partner ecosystem which allows us to provide customers with the industry’s leading Zero Trust Segmentation platform to secure their endpoints, data centers, and cloud environments,” commented Wael Jaber, VP Technology & Services at CyberKnight.
